The White Stripes is an American rock band formed in 1997. At first there were only two members: Jack White - vocals, guitars, piano and Meg White - percussion drummer, sometimes performing back vocals.
Occasionally, the band's songs use instruments such as kalimba, harmonica and banjo. The music of "white stripes" is a combination of garage rock with blues, while still having a "raw" simplicity of arrangements and layouts. The duo were also renowned for their aesthetic design, incorporating a simple color scheme of whites, reds and blacks, which have also been used throughout the band's studio albums and singles. The band's last albums have won a Grammy for Best Alternative Album.
