Walk the Moon - an American rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Group's genre includes elements of pop and indie rock with elements of new wave. The leader of the team, Nicholas Petricca, gathered a group in 2008, while a student at Kenyon College. In 2010, changed several members, the group acquired the musicians playing today: Kevin Ray-Whitehall, Sean Waugaman, Eli Maiman. The band's name is taken from the song «Walking on the Moon» the second studio album Reggatta de Blanc of The Police. Self-released debut album I Want! I Want! In November 2010, the band got into the rotation of several alternative radio with the single «Anna Sun». In February 2011, Walk the Moon signed a record deal with RCA Records and in June 2012 released their first album on a major label, called Walk the Moon. The album contains re-recorded most of the songs from the I Want! I Want !, as well as several new songs. In December 2014 they released their second studio album on RCA Records, entitled Talking is Hard. The album includes the most successful to date, song of «Shut Up and Dance», got to the fourth place in the Billboard Hot 100 chart and topped the charts for Billboard Alternative Songs and Billboard Rock Songs.
