The National is American indie-rock band, for the sake of participating in the project, future musicians had to quit their jobs.
The first independent album "The National" was released under the label Brassland Records, owned by the brothers Dessner and Alec Bemes. The musicians gave several concerts in support of the upcoming album. This was followed by the second album "Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers".
In 2005, the band began recording under a new label, Beggars Banquet Records, and released the album "Alligator", recorded under a new label.
The "Boxer" album in 2007 was appeared, in the recording of which guest musicians took part.
The album "High Violet" was released in 2010, which became the band's most commercially successful album.
